Greek Golden Visa Has Reclaimed Its Throne as Europe’s Most Popular
Despite problems suffered by the Greek Golden Visa program last year, which were exacerbated by the pandemic crisis, Greece has rebounded to take first place among European programs. From 2014 to the present, Greece and Portugal have been consistently battling for the top spot in investors’ preferences. However, last year’s first spot goes to Greece, which was able to fully recover by speeding up the process and reducing bureaucracy.
In the month of October 2021, Greek immigration authorities granted golden visas to 193 primary applicants and 1,078 family members. Greece has granted a total of 747 applications in 2021 as a result of the Q3 sprint, a number that for the first time this year surpasses that of Portugal’s golden visa, which has authorized 698 applications in the first ten months of 2021.
The remarkable pace of 48 acceptances per week has resulted in great hopes for the new year. When it comes to nationalities of investors, Chinese investors appear to be – consistently – at the top of the list, followed by large contributions from Russian and Turkish investors. Finally, Lebanon, Egypt, and the United States submitted multiple applications.
